Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is good for your health and well-being.

Volunteers are the driving force of many programs and services offered in our community. Research has shown that social participation, such as connecting with others, doing things with or for others, and contributing to society, has positive effects on older adults’ well-being. This includes improved health, health perception, quality of life, and life satisfaction.

Learn more about the health benefits of volunteering for older adults.

Volunteers have a voice.

When older adults volunteer in their community, it gives them a voice in decision making and gives representation to ensure changes related to healthy aging are given priority. Communities become stronger when there is civic engagement and people work together to create an inclusive environment for all.
