The Canadian Paediatric Society recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life. At about six months, your baby will be ready for other foods, but you can continue breastfeeding as long as it is comfortable for you and your baby, even well into the toddler years.

This year, we are highlighting the crucial role Canadian workplaces play in supporting breastfeeding parents by distributing cut-outs of local breastfeeding parents to participating workplaces.
We are grateful to our local models for sharing the special moments their photos captured – and continuing to inspire and connect with other parents and decision makers across our district.
Join us in celebrating the power of parents who are adequately supported with breastfeeding, and the positive impact it has on workplaces and whole communities. Let the information on this page serve as a valuable resource whether you’re a parent, employer or advocate.
“Family-friendly workplace policies - such as paid maternity leave, breastfeeding breaks, and a room where mothers can breastfeed or express milk - create an environment that benefits not only working women and their families but also employers.”
