Board of Health at a Glance
- The Board of Health is the Health Unit's governing body
- Established by provincial public health legislation
- Primary functions of the Board are planning and policy development, fiscal arrangements, and labour relations
- Has up to 13 members from across our district – 10 municipal/citizen appointees and up to 3 provincial appointees
- Accountable to the community and to the Ministry of Health
- Meets regularly to approve policies within which staff can define the health needs of the community
