Dental Clinic for Eligible Adults

The Health Unit Adult Program (HUAP) allows eligible adults access to our dental clinic for urgent dental care.

To be eligible for the Health Unit Adult Program, you must

  • Meet the current urgent care clinical criteria:
    • Pain AND
    • Can’t sleep OR
    • Can’t eat OR
    • Swelling OR
    • Taking medication for pain OR
    • Tooth is throbbing OR
    • Currently taking antibiotics for a dental infection OR
    • Have gone to ER for dental pain

AND

  • Meet the current program criteria:
    • Are between the ages of 18 and 64 years, living in the North Bay or Parry Sound District
    • Recipient of Ontario Works (OW), Ontario Disability Support Pension (ODSP), or Non-insured Health Benefits (NIHB) for First Nations people

OR

  • Recipient of specified after-tax income based on household size (see chart below)

  • If your household size is one person, your net income must be $25,400 or lower.
  • If your household size is two persons, your net income must be $34,368 or lower.
  • If your household size is three persons, your net income must be $41,602 or lower.
  • If your household size is four persons, your net income must be $47,553 or lower.
  • If your household size is five persons, your net income must be $52,758 or lower.
  • If your household size is six persons, your net income must be $57,482 or lower.
  • If your household size is seven persons, your net income must be $61,825 or lower.

AND

  • Do not have private dental benefits

AND

  • Your household would suffer financial hardship if you had to pay for the required dental treatment

Attestation

Before you see the dentist, you will need to sign an attestation confirming that:

  • You meet the clinical criteria of the Health Unit Adult Program
  • You meet the program eligibility requirements of the Health Unit Adult Program

Procedures and Payment

  • If you have an urgent dental concern, call us. We can help you access urgent dental care and determine if you may be eligible for the Health Unit Adult Program.
  • The Health Unit Adult Program helps eligible individuals access covered dental services.
  • Only certain dental services are covered under the Health Unit Adult Program. Before treatment begins, the dentist will explain what is covered and discuss your options. You can decide how you would like to proceed. Treatment may require a follow-up appointment.
