Board of Health at a Glance
The Board of Health is the governing body of the Health Unit and is established under provincial public health legislation.
The primary functions of the Board of Health include:
- Planning and policy development
- Fiscal oversight
- Labour relations
The Board of Health is comprised of up to 13 members from across the district, including:
- Ten municipal/citizen appointees
- Up to three provincial appointees
The Board is accountable to both the community and the Ministry of Health. It meets regularly to approve policies that guide staff in addressing the health needs of the community.
