Post-Secondary Immunization Requirements

1-step TB test = 2 appointments
You will attend one appointment to have the TB skin test given and a second appointment 48–72 hours later to have the result read.

2-step TB test = 4 appointments
A 2-step TB test involves two separate TB skin tests. Each test requires an appointment to have the test given and another appointment 48–72 hours later to have it read, for a total of 4 appointments.

Please make sure you can attend all required appointments before booking. TB skin tests must be read within the required timeframe. If you are unable to return for your scheduled reading, the test may need to be repeated.

Live vaccines, such as MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) and varicella (chickenpox), can affect TB skin testing.

Live vaccines should be given:

• on the same day as your final TB skin test
• after your final TB skin test has been completed
• at least 4 weeks before your TB skin test

Please bring any previous TB test results, bloodwork results and immunization records you may have.
