News Release: Community Notice of a confirmed Case of COVID-19 at the Bay Street Café in Parry Sound

PARRY SOUND, ON - The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) is issuing a community notice of a confirmed case of COVID-19. This individual worked on September 5, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bay Street Café located at 22 Bay St. Parry Sound, while awaiting for COVID-19 test results.

NORTH BAY, ON – When someone with symptoms is tested for COVID-19, or are isolating for 14 days, self-identified close contacts do not have to self-isolate. Individuals who self-identify as a close contact of someone showing symptoms are to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19. NORTH BAY, ON – In the event of a COVID-19 outbreak at a school or childcare centre, the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) will share a news release publicly and update the outbreak list and COVID-19 cases page on its website.

NORTH BAY, ON – The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (“Health Unit”) is advising residents of Carling Township who draw their drinking water directly from the Shebeshekong River to take extra precautions and to boil their water. News Release - International Overdose Awareness Day - Today

NORTH BAY, ON – The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit region has seen an increase in the number of overdose related deaths since the start of COVID-19 and an overall increase from previous years. In 2018, there were 99 opioid-related emergency department visits and 14 deaths related to opioid use, among Nipissing and Parry Sound residents. In 2019, this increased to 138 opioid-related emergency department visits and 18 deaths among the same geographical area.
