NORTH BAY, ON - The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) has declared a respiratory outbreak at Eastholme - the causative agent is COVID-19. Aligning with the Ministry of Health guidelines for an outbreak in the long-term care home, a COVID-19 outbreak is declared with a single laboratory-confirmed case in a resident or staff member of a long-term care home. News Release: Health Unit Reports First Death Due to COVID-19

NORTH BAY, ON – It is with great sadness that the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) reports the first death related to COVID-19 in the Health Unit’s district. The individual was a woman in her 50s who passed away in the last 24 hours. The Health Unit is working collaboratively with the hospitals involved and community stakeholders on contact tracing activities to identify and follow-up with close contacts. Out of respect for the family, no further information is being shared.

News Release: Ontario Public Health Lab's Microbiologist Confirms First COVID-19 Test at Cassellholme to be a True Positive

NORTH BAY, ON – The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) has received confirmation from a Microbiologist at the Ontario Public Health Lab in Toronto that the positive test result at Cassellholme was a true positive. The person who tested positive has since received two negative tests and therefore their COVID-19 case is resolved. Cassellholme will remain in outbreak.
