Other Important Notes

  • Individuals without a primary care provider are prioritized.

  • You do not need an OHIP card or a referral to make an appointment.

What to Expect at the Sexual Health Clinic

At our Sexual Health Clinic, you’ll find a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere where you can have an open discussion about your sexual health. The clinic is staffed by administrative assistants, public health nurses, nurse practitioners, and physicians.

Interview

  • You will meet with a member of the health care team to discuss your:
    • Contact information
    • Medical and sexual health history
    • Reason for your visit
  • This information is used to determine the type of service(s) that will be most beneficial to you.

Assessment

An exam may be required, depending on your symptoms and risk factors.

Testing

We can test for different STBBIs via urine test, swabs (throat, vagina, cervix, and/or rectum), or blood work.

We will determine which type of testing is appropriate at the time of your visit based on your sexual history.

Results

It can take up to three weeks to receive test results for sexually transmitted infections and blood-borne infections and up to eight weeks for Pap results.

We will only contact you if you test POSITIVE for an infection.

If you do not hear from us, it means your test results were NEGATIVE. Feel free to confirm by calling us and we will give you your results over the phone.
