NEWS RELEASE

NORTH BAY, ON – The fall flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine campaign is ramping up for another respiratory season. Health units will be first to offer both vaccines to high-risk individuals this October, followed by participating pharmacies and primary care providers. The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) has released their community clinic schedule for individuals who are in a high-risk category:

  • Residents and staff of congregate living settings
  • Pregnant individuals
  • Individuals aged 65 years and older
  • Children six months to four years of age
  • Individuals six months of age and older with underlying health conditions
  • Individuals from a First Nation, Inuit or Metis community and/or who self-identify as First Nation, Inuit or Metis and their household members
  • Members of racialized and other equity deserving communities
  • Health care workers and first responders

It is safe and convenient to receive both the COVID-19 vaccine and flu shot at the same time. Getting your flu and COVID-19 shots is a way to protect your health, decrease the risk of missed work, school, or social opportunities, and protect others. It is still recommended to wait six months after your last COVID-19 vaccine or COVID-19 infection to get the next dose.

Individuals looking to receive only the flu shot may walk in to one of the Health Unit’s community clinics listed below (wait times may vary) or contact a local pharmacy to arrange an October appointment. COVID-19 vaccination at community clinics will be by appointment. The Health Unit will not be able to accept in-office appointments this year for either the COVID-19 vaccine or the flu shot.

COVID-19 vaccine appointments for the Health Unit’s community clinics can be booked online or by calling 1-833-943-3900. More vaccine opportunities for high-risk and general populations will become available later this fall.
