PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
VERNER, ON - The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) has issued a Do Not Drink Advisory for users of the Verner Drinking Water System. The advisory comes following a loss of water pressure in the distribution system.
Verner residents who rely on the water system are to refrain from using tap water for drinking, preparing food, making infant formula, brushing teeth, or any other activity that could result in ingestion. The Health Unit urges residents to use bottled water or another safe alternative as boiling the water will not make it safe to consume.
Door-to-door visits were conducted by the Municipality of West Nipissing on Sunday, July 27 to advise users. The Health Unit is contacting food-handling premises to provide guidance. Residents should follow additional communication from the Municipality.
System flushing, sampling, and testing will occur to ensure the water is safe. The advisory will remain in effect until satisfactory test results are received, and the system is confirmed safe.
