Dashboard Breach

The Health Unit recently became aware that information was accidentally accessible for COVID-19 test results posted on our Health Unit’s dashboard. That data included first and last name, municipality, unique identifying number, testing date and location, and the test result. It may also have included a telephone number. It did not include financial information, health card numbers or any other health information. People who had their test done on or after May 9 are not affected. We believe the likelihood that individual data was accessed is quite low.

Upon learning of the breach, we immediately removed this data from the website. The Health Unit has sent letters to all those who have been affected. We are deeply sorry that this happened and take our role as trusted partners in local public health very seriously. As a result, the Health Unit has launched a thorough investigation into our privacy policies and procedures. As well, we have put in place additional measures to ensure a similar breach does not happen again in the future. Please consult our news release for further details. If you have any concerns, contact our dedicated call centre at 1-800-563-2808 and choose option 7.
