Note: This table was updated on June 17, 2020 to include outbreak-associated cases as an exposure.

1 Cases are those that have received a positive COVID-19 test result and have a permanent address within the Health Unit's district.

2 Exposure: Source of acquisition is determined through case management and contact tracing. Cases with multiple exposures or risk factors are assigned to a single acquisition based on the hierarchy below:

  • Travel:Travel outside of Ontario within the 14 days prior to becoming ill.
  • Outbreak-Associated: Cases with a known exposure linked to an ongoing workplace, long-term care home, retirement home, hospital, or other institution outbreak. Cases residing within the Health Unit's district may be associated with an outbreak declared outside the Health Unit region.
  • Close Contact: A person who provided care for the confirmed case, including healthcare workers, family member or other caregivers, or who had other similar close physical contact, or, a person who lived with or otherwise had close, prolonged contact with a confirmed case while the case was ill. The Health Unit works closely with confirmed cases to identify their close contacts and then follows up with all close contacts.
  • Community: No travel history, not outbreak-associated, and no known close contact with a confirmed case.

3 Status: Current status of case at time of data update:

  • Isolated in Hospital: A person with a positive COVID-19 test result who is currently admitted and isolated in hospital.
  • Isolating: A person with a positive COVID-19 test result who is currently isolating at home.
  • Deceased: Refers to a lab-confirmed case that dies during the COVID-19 investigation. It does not account for unreported deaths that occur after the investigation is closed.
  • Resolved: A person who is no longer considered infectious as per the Ministry of Health clearance criteria.
