Extreme Cold Advisory Plan

Morning sun with frost on trees

The Health Unit's Extreme Cold Advisory Plan is activated when the forecasted wind speed is 15 km/hr or more and the wind chill values are expected to last 3 hours or more at a temperature of -40 Celcius or below.

The aim of the Extreme Cold Advisory Plan is:
. To ensure that vulnerable groups are provided with information on what precautions to take to protect themselves when temperatures with a wind chill drop to extremely cold levels
. To ensure that high-risk populations are informed when temperatures drop to extreme levels
