Active Transportation

Active Transportation

Active transportation refers to all types of human-powered transportation – walking, cycling, in-line skating or skateboarding, and using a wheelchair. There are many ways to engage in active transportation such as walking to the bus stop, or cycling to school/work.

Road SignActive transportation provides:

  • Opportunities for people to be physically active on a regular basis
  • More opportunities to meet people
  • Less motor vehicle traffic on our roads
  • Less air pollution from greenhouse gas emissions
  • Opportunities to save money on gas and parking
